Wondering how to activate your ICO contribution to the Tezos Fundraiser in 2017? Read on for instructions!

It has been over 3 years since the Tezos ICO Fundraiser ended, and the majority (>95%) of recommended allocations have been claimed by participants. But if you are in the ~5% of fundraiser participants who have not activated their allocation from 2017, you might be wondering — how do I activate my Tezos in 2021?

A lot has changed in the Tezos ecosystem, with amazing new tools launched over the last few years to enable a richer and more secure way to engage in the Tezos ecosystem. Claiming your Tezos allocation today is much simpler than in the early days; however, as always, a good degree of caution must be exercised when following instructions online to make sure that you are using the appropriate steps. To be 100% certain you are following the right steps, always confirm by comparing to the process/steps outlined in the Tezos website (tezos.com).

Ok, Let’s Claim Those Tezos!

1. Verifying Identity: Complete the AML/KYC process at https://verification.tezos.com/. In order to complete this process you will need to input the public key hash(es) for the wallets you wish to activate (up to 3 per process). Note: Never share your private key(s) with anyone — only the public key(s) are required for this process.

Example of public key hash from fundraiser.

2. Activating XTZ Allocation: Once you have received your activation code(s) from completing the KYC/AML process (note this can take up to a few days), head over to https://activate.tezos.com to activate your recommended allocation from the fundraiser. You will need to enter your public key hash(es) and the corresponding activation code(s) for each. Haven’t received the activation code email yet? Be sure to check the spam folder — it is possible it got filtered out.

If you did everything correctly, your Tezos allocation will be added into the Tezos public blockchain. You can visit https://tzstats.com/ and enter your public key to check if everything worked properly. If so, all you need to do now is create a wallet so you can use your allocation.

3. Creating an XTZ Wallet: in order to use your allocation, you need to create a wallet — or, in this case, restore/import your fundraiser wallet. There are several wallets that allow you to restore a fundraiser wallet, however for this purpose we will reference Kukai.

a) Head over to https://wallet.kukai.app/

b) Click “Import Wallet”

c) Select “Fundraiser”

d) Complete the form by inputting the seed words, email address & password used from the fundraiser as well as the public key hash. Click “Import”

That’s it! You now have your fundraiser allocation in your own wallet — from here you can send or receive XTZ and even delegate to a baker of your choice. Welcome to the active world of Tezos — you are now part of a passionate and thriving global community!
